Class Dojo I use Classdojo.com as a means of tracking student behavior throughout the school day. Students will have the opportunity to earn points for good behavior, such as being on-task, being kind to a classmate, or participating in class discussion and can conversely lose points if they display poor behavior, such as speaking out of turn or being off-task. Dojo Point Passes At the end of each week, the student with the most points is deemed Point Master and has the opportunity to pick a special prize such as being the teacher's assistant for the day. Each student also receives Dojo Point Passes for the amount of points they earned during the week. These point passes can be used to purchase items off our our Dojo Menu such as fun pencils, opportunities to sit with a friend, or extra iPad time. Point passes can also be used during the monthly class auction when students have the opportunity to use their saved points to bid on "big" prizes. Point Master Behavior Students who display excellent behavior such as being on task, being kind to a classmate, or being prepared for class will receive the opportunity to put their name on the Point Master Behavior board and receive extra dojo points. Row Points Students also have the opportunity throughout the week to earn points on the board as a row. The winning row wins a piece of candy on Friday and extra dojo points. Class Goal Reward Each week, there will be a secret treat or prize that the class is working towards together. If they are working hard, following instructions or being kind to each other then they will have the opportunity to earn a letter on the board which begins spelling out the treat. If the class displays poor behavior such as excessive talking, disruptions or disrespect, they will lose letters on the. The class must earn all of the letters for that treat in order to receive it (they will learn what the treat is as they earn more letters and the word forms). The treat or prize will be given on Friday at the end of the day. *Some treats are longer words or bigger prizes- the class is then given a number of weeks to earn it if necessary.
Consequences Name Board -If a student is displaying poor behavior or breaking a class rule such as speaking out of turn, being disruptive during class or being disrespectful, they will earn their name on the Bench Board. A name on the board is considered a warning and if their behavior changes they will not receive a punishment. If the behavior continues, the student will receive a check mark. Each check mark is equivalent to five minutes on the bench at the next recess. -If a student is consistently asked to stop a behavior over the course of the week, they will be put on "probation" in which they lose their "warning" and receive automatic bench time. -If a student displays extremely poor behavior, they will be punished on a case-by-case basis after a discussion with Ms. Marquart.
